If your tattoo is wrapped in Second Skin, do not remove the bandage for 3–4 days. During this time, it is normal to see fluid accumulating under the bandage; this fluid may contain pigment particles. A slight odor from the area (within about 10–15 cm of the tattoo) is also normal.

After 3–4 days, carefully remove the Second Skin under warm running water. To remove it, gently stretch the bandage away from the skin from each side rather than peeling it off like a regular adhesive bandage. Stretching helps release the adhesive without irritating the skin or disturbing the tattoo.

Wash the tattoo with mild, fragrance-free soap and warm water, then pat it dry with a clean paper towel.

At this point, the initial healing phase should be complete. You may begin using a non-scented, lightweight moisturizer (such as Hustle Butter, CeraVe moisturizing cream/lotion, La Roche-Posay, etc.) to keep the tattoo hydrated.

Do not use petroleum jelly (Vaseline), as it is too occlusive and may interfere with proper

IMPORTANT

If adhesive residue remains on the skin after removing the bandage and cannot be washed off with soap and water, use a solid oil-based product such as coconut oil or ghee, or a melting cleansing balm (makeup remover). If these are not available, liquid oil applied with a cotton pad may be used. After removing the adhesive, wash the tattoo again with soap and water.

Around day 3–4, the tattoo will typically begin to dry out, peel, and may start to itch 😬 This is a normal part of the healing process. Do not scratch, rub, or pick at the tattoo, even if it feels itchy. If needed, gently tap the area or apply a small amount of fragrance-free moisturizer to relieve discomfort.
